Baron
It has BARON engraved on the topcap - thats the only way that I know that it's brand. Neither Waits and online searching brings anything up anything on it or like it.
Firstly its a Flip Plate and it has "BARDE DOUCE" (Hard Beard) on one side and "BARDE DURE" (Soft Beard) on the other. What attracted me to it are the two metal spacers on each side. The rest of the base plate is bakelite. I've not seen that before.
The guard on one side is ridged while the other is smooth. The two outer holes are each lined with brass sleeves, so its pretty well made. It has B TE S.D.G.D on the metal piece so we know that its a French razor.

How does it shave?
On the Barde Dure it's about a mid-mild shaver. The Barge Douce its low-aggressive and makes short work of mowing down stubble without too much blade feel.
It's actually a very nice shaver

The Repair
This sat on my desk staring at me for over 6 months before I figured out how I was going to repair it.....
I won it on Ebay, paid for it and a few hours later received a refund. When I contacted the seller he sent me a picture that showed the broken center stem. He agreed to send me the broken razor for free but I had to pay for the postage - which I did.
I thought of silver soldering it but its zamak so that wasn't going to work. Epoxy or a glue wouldn't work because the surface area is too small.
This is what I did:
Firstly I drilled a hole where the centre post was and tapped it. (Pic 2 below).
I then turned a new post with the top to match the thread in the topcap and the opposite end to match the thread in the handle. (pic 3)
I then Loctited the center post into the top cap.
The fact that I now have a small piece of brass showing through the top cap is a small price to pay fort a razor that now works.
