Gibbs Ref 9

This is the most sought after adjustable razor that Gibbs manufactured. The shaving community has Nicknamed it the "Gibbs Click" because in order to open the TopCap you press the button at the bottom of the handle and the topcap springs open.
I also believe that it's the only one piece that Gibbs produced (but correct me if I'm wrong).

The topcap is angular so the shave angle is almost set for you. And Oh Yes - It uses non-modified blades.
The adjustment "system" is the same as the Gibbs 15/17 except that it doesn't open as wide. The thread has a pitch of 0.8mm vs the 1.0mm of the 15/17.

This is pretty much the complete kit, with the case, the correct blades and instructions/guarantee leaflet.

The guarantee on one side and instructions on the other complete the package. (Click on it to open a larger version in new tab.)

How does it shave?
Its no BBS razor for me. I find it very mild shaver even at its most open and actually one of the few razors that I prefer to use a Feather blade.

Dismantled - The Internals

This is a second one that I have. One of the pivot/hinge extensions on the top cap is broken and been zamak, it's virtually impossible to silver solder.
The various metals are:
Top cap, Middle plate, base plate and adjuster dial are Zamak.
The handle and Click knob are Aluminium.
The rest of the pieces (internals) are Stainless Steel.

This one does shave like a Gibbs 9, however you do need to make sure that you open the top cap very carefully
