Krytyk

This adjustable has it all - gap and angle.
Not much is known about this, but what we do know is that it has PAT D JULY 18.1911 stamped underneath. It was manufactured by the Jones Razor & Mfg Co in Kansas City, Mo.Angle.
Gap adjustability is done by pulling the little piece of bent wire underneath, which in turn pulls the comb downwards. Its either open or closed - nothing inbetween.
Tilt adjustability is by way of a circular piece on the head and a handle/clamp arrangement. It can be used from normal 90° to 180° so like a shavette. (See the second row of images below)
Both ideas are simple, but they work.
I suspect that there was a stropping holder for the blade as the bottom of the handle is open. I don't have an original blade, so I use a modified Artist Club blade with a spacer.

The Krytyk patent was granted to Floyd D. Jones on 18 July 1911 aqnd the number is US998009 (Click to open) or a more detailed patent can be found HERE.

How does it shave?
Its no BBS shaver, using the AC blade. I usually end up with a DFS, but it's some work getting there.
I have also found that I prefer it in "T" mode because in order to use it in slant mode you need to switch the slant over for the two sides of your face.
All in all it's a fun shaver with lots of settings to keep one occupied.

The Shim and Blade Modification
The images below pretty much show how everything works and fits together.
The topcap has two downturned edges and the edges of the blade are ground just enough so that they fit snugly into the topcap.
Ah and if you are wondering - The shim is a cut down military dog tag.
