This is the British version of the Gibbs. It uses unmodified blades, because of this they and the shave quality are extremely sought after so they generally fetch high prices.

It says "Made in Britain" on them but there is lots of speculation if in fact that is completely correct. Its generally thought that Gibbs manufactured them to supplied specifications. Add the fact that Gibbs held a 1937 patent on the design, I would believe that they were in fact manufactured by Gibbs or cetrtainly under licence from them.
I have seen an advert dated as early as 1949 and read online that they were produced into the early 1950's, so for a short period only.

The three versions that I've seen are:
    Gold with the location posts on the middle plate - this appears to be the most common one.
    Gold with the location posts on the topcap.
    Chrome Version (The location posts are on the middle plate)
