Rockwell launched a successful Kickstarter campaign in September 2014. The first batch went out in December 2014 / January 2015. The first batch that went out had "warped" top caps. I understand that they sent out new razors to those that received the warped top caps.
Moving on a few months they started sending out the second batch which were fine. The concept of "6 different razors" and the price point made it pretty much an instant success and put them "on the map".
I'm not sure how that managed to get a patent on a reversible plate because the idea is an old one dating back to the 1930's.
Its a typical three piece but has an additional two base plates already in the package. The plates are numbered 1/3, 2/4 and 5/6.
They are great value for money and should cover most users needs.
This was my first DE razor. It was a standard Stainless Steel version. A few months after buying it an opportunity to have it Cerakoted came up and I took it.
I'm not really sure how Rockwell managed to get the "very old" flip plate idea patented but I did find three patents belonging to them on it.
They are (1) US2016075040A1 dated March, 17 2016, (2) USD788367S dated May 30, 2017 and (3) US10807256B2 dated October 29, 2020.
