Atelier Durdan - Horizon
On 16/05/2025, Augustin announced that he had been working on an Adjustable razor. A few weeks later it was announced that ordering could start on 26/06/2025.
It would be available in their standard materials - Stainless Steel, Titanium, Copper and Bronze and also their normal finishes - Machined, Sandblasted, Basic Polished or Premium Polish. (It seems like they don't offer the Titanium in "premium polish".) It was also possible to buy just the head alone in the same configurations.
After some deliberation, I decided to get a complete razor with a stand in a machined finish.
Onto the razor. It takes an Artist Club blade and I believe that it's the first adjustable to do so. (Although I catalog the Ikon El Jefe, this was not designed as an adjustable).
It's very well presented in a box with cutouts that hold the four pieces of the razor. The only thing that I did was add the teflon washer.
It's a three piece with a simple but very ingenious adjustment mechanism. There is a sliding bar in the base plate that fits into a slot in the topcap. (middle image on the bottom row below) To adjust it, loosen the handle about a ¼ turn, slide the little screw across and retighten the handle. This shifts the base plate backwards and forwards in relation to the topcap. (last image - bottom row below)
Managing to get an adjustable using only four pieces is pretty impressive.
The machined finish itself looks great. The knurling is grippy without been too aggressive. Looking at the bottom of the handle, I would believe that everyone who buys the standard handle, would very likely also opt for the stand.

How does it shave
After my first drive, which ended up at 6 ... I found it mild. On my next shave I did the whole shave at 8 and found it still in the mild range. On the third shave, I started at 6 but played with different angles and found that I need to ride the topcap and then this starts to perform.
It's still a mildish shaver but pretty effecient.
