The Personna Precision razors
After I received my first Personna Precision back in 2019, I started to research them and I found a post somewhere on the net with one that was "different". I downloaded the images and have kept referring back to them ever since. Early in July 2025 I finally found one for sale. (Coincidentally, within a week a second one also came up for sale)
All the images below have the Generation 1 on the Left, the Generation 2 - Gold Version in the Middle and the Generation 2 - Chrome Version on the Right.
Looking at the differences, I believe that it's very likely that the different generations were made for Personna by two different manufacturers.

Since I have the cases of all three - I'll start there.
As can be seen, the cases are all different. The first generation comes in a unique case which is what actually caught my attenion when I saw the listing. The case of the other two are the same but the colours of the lid and case bottom are reversed.
It seems that the Gold versions came in cases with brown lids while the lids of the Chrome version were cream coloured.
Under the first generation case, it says "Made in Britian" while the other two say "Made in England".

The insert of the first generation's case is made of aluminium and is covered in a felt like material. The other two have plastic inserts. The insert of the chrome version matches the colour of the case bottom while I have seen the insert in both colours for the gold version.

Other than for the Chrome, from this angle they all look the same.

This is where we start seeing the differences between the first and second generations.
Two differences are immediately visible here, the third not as obvious as the others.....
A - The TopCap on the first generation is thinner and flatter than the other two.
B - The knurling on the adjuster dial is coarser on the Gen-1. The knurling on both the Gen-2's are finer and match the knurling on the twist knob.
C - The Number fonts are very slightly different different and the numbering also starts in different position between the two generations.
D - The handle of the first generation is whiter than the other two, but this may be because it hasn't been exposed to light and faded.

There are two differences visible from this angle. Firstly, the bottom of the twist knob of the Gen-1 does not have a hole in it, while the bottom of the second generations do have one.
Again we see that the knurling of the adjuster dial on the first generation is coarser than the other two. The knurling on the second generation matches the finer knurling of the twist knob. Having both with the same knurling actually makes more sense because it means the company would only need a single knurler.
Again other than the Chrome, both second generation razors look the same.

When I first saw the "different" Personna back in 2019, this is what immediately caught my eyes.
The blade posts were in the TopCap versus the one that I had, which had its posts on the middle plate.

The middle plates are also different.
Other than to accomodate the different location of the blade posts, the clamping edges are different. The edges on the Gen-1 are angled downwards as opposed to the edges of the Gen-2's which are squared off.
They are not inter-changable between the first and second generations.

They all dismantle the same way with one small difference between the two generations and that is the twist knob is captured in the handle of the Gen-2's. The Gen-1 dismantles just like a Gibbs!
The one that is most seen is the Gold Second generation version, followed by the Chrome version and the least seen is the First version. Other than the two on auction in 2025 and the one in the post that I refered to in the first paragraph, I've not seen any others, however since posting the three versions on Instagram, I have been contacted by two different guys saying that they have a Gen-1 - so they are out there......
